Rename photos in sequence
Put your photos in the order you want, then download them renamed 01, 02, 03… Only the names change: the photos are not edited, and they never leave your device.
Drop photos here
Any number of files. Nothing is uploaded.
How it works
- Choose the photos, or drop them on the box above.
- Sort them by date taken, date modified or name, or drag them into the order you want.
- Pick how the new names look and the number to start at.
- Download the zip. Inside are the same photos, renamed in sequence.
Sending them on WhatsApp?
WhatsApp renames every photo it sends, so the new names are lost on the way. PicOrder stamps the number into the picture itself, where no app can change it.
Questions
How do I rename photos in sequence?
Choose the photos, put them in order by dragging them or sorting by date taken, pick a format such as 01_original-name, and download. The zip holds the same photos named 01, 02, 03 in that order.
Does renaming change my photos?
No. The files are copied byte for byte: same quality, same size, same camera data. Only the name changes, and the file date, which steps two seconds per photo so date-sorted views keep the order.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser, on your own device. The photos are never sent anywhere.
Why do the numbers start with 0?
So they sort correctly everywhere. Many apps compare names character by character and would put 10 before 2. With 01, 02 … 10 the order is the same in every app.
Is there a limit?
No. The renamer is free for any number of files.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes. It works in the browser on iPhone and Android. Choose the photos from your library; the zip downloads to Files on iPhone or to Downloads on Android.
Will the new names survive WhatsApp?
No. WhatsApp renames the photos it sends. To keep the order in a chat, put the number in the picture itself with PicOrder.
